These cookies are a fantastic addition to your holiday festivities. 
If you like soft sugar cookies and peppermint then these cookies will become your new favorite. 
¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups unbleached flour
1 tsp baking powder 
¼ tsp salt
1 cup chopped candy canes or peppermint candies
In a large bowl or a stand mixer cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar. Once combined, add the eggs and the vanilla. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and peppermint. Do not overwork the dough, it will make it tough. Place the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours. 
Preheat oven to 350℉
Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out half of the mixture to about a ¼ to a ⅛ of an inch in thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place the shapes onto a baking sheet lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. Bake for 8 - 12 minutes or until the bottom edges start to turn a very light brown. 
Remove the cookies from the pan to a cooling rack. Serve at room temperature.
