Self-care is imperative. During this time of social distancing, most of us are putting off self-care rituals that we once loved. Simple things like massages and facials have gone out the door because they don’t feel as good or seem as important as they once did.
Here in northern Nevada, the climate is very dry. I am always trying new lotions and oils to help moisturize my skin. Using a gentle scrub helps to exfoliate the skin before you massage in your moisturizer.
If you are anything like me and love DIY projects, this salt scrub if for you. I enjoy using different essential oils each time I make it. I mix it up, depending on my mood. Be creative and substitute the essential oils to your liking.
1 Tbsp avocado oil
1 Tbsp salt
5 drops of essential oil, I often use 3 lavender and 2 rosehip
In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients together and begin scrubbing. Massage it in gently. You don’t want to scrub too hard. Once you applied, rinse it off, and pat your skin dry. Lastly, gently rub in your favorite moisturizer.
I enjoy doing my scrub right before bed. The lavender and rose scents help me to relax and fall into a deep sleep.
