Upon waking, the first thing I put into my body is lemon water, and the very next thing is a quality cup of coffee or two. After that, I am flexible and not in need of much else. Breakfast is not the most important meal for me personally, however for my husband, it is. I can often skip breakfast altogether and just wait until lunch. Other times, I may have breakfast, but it is our dinner leftovers. I listen to my body each morning to decide if I need to eat, and if so, what do I want to eat.

Do you feel that sometimes something warm and hearty sounds good, and other times you just need something light? I believe variety is essential as well as healthy quality items. What do you enjoy eating for breakfast? Is it full of sugar, salt, unhealthy carbs, or high in fats? As mentioned, listen to your body and try eating what it needs, minus the items that don’t improve your health.

Here are a few things I would like to share with you that I enjoy drinking and eating in the morning. A few of these recipes are on Just Salt It

Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee
Granola with fresh berries and coconut yogurt or dairy-free milk
Organic farm fresh eggs scrambled with lots of veggies and cheese
Leftovers from last night’s dinner (especially gluten-free pizza)

If you enjoy working out in the morning as I do, I recommend waiting to eat your breakfast after your workout. If exercising on an empty stomach bothers you, try eating something light before your workout, like a piece of fruit, a little peanut butter on toast or on a banana, or drink half of your smoothie and save the rest for after your workout.
